The Fourth Generation of Cellular Wireless
Wednesday, January 18th, 2012You may have heard about the latest smartphones or things like clear internet service and wondered what exactly “4G” was. Commercials for 4G jump out at you between shows and proudly proclaim the service’s superiority, but, without understanding what 4G is or even refers to, it can be hard getting excited about something so good. In short, 4G is the next step in mobile broadband internet, and the next step toward a world where we can accomplish all the online tasks reserved for the desktop while on the move. In other words, it lets you do more on the move.
With 4G, the intent is to no longer rely on elusive and isolated hotspots of wi-fi service. Instead, the goal is to create hotspots as large as cities themselves. In doing so, providers are able to create wider areas of coverage where we can all get the things we need to get done.
A time is coming very soon where you’ll be able to stream episodes of House while you wait for dinner at a restaurant or teleconference seamlessly from the back of a taxi cab without missing a beat. The future of wireless means more convenience and more peace of mind.
