Preverenges, Switzerland, July 18, 2007 – ANAGRAM Technologies S.A., a leading
developer of digital audio intellectual property (IP) blocks and subsystems for Systemon-
a-Chip (SoC) manufacturers, today announced that it is developed a full product line
of fully digital SoC IP blocks including a PWM Class D Controller, Asynchronous Sample
Rate Converter, and D/A Converter IP cells for audio applications. The ANAGRAM
Digtial PureLogic family of products is based on patented digital filtering and delta-sigma
technology and is ideal for applications requiring low power, high levels of integration
and precise reconstruction of analog signals. The target technologies include TSMC
0.13um process and below; however all IP blocks are fully digital and therefore are
easily portable to other processes.

In order to remain competitive in the current economic climate, fabless semiconductor
manufacturers are continuously looking for ways to lower development costs and
shorten time-to-market. ANAGRAM Digtial PureLogic products not only can be fully laid
out by standard digital auto place and route software, it uses industry standard digital
CMOS processes minimizing digital noise coupling and are not reliant on device
matching issues. This reduces integration risk while speeding up the development time
thereby achieving a faster time to market and lower cost. Ultimately, the architecture is
designed to support the significantly increased demand for compact, low-cost, and low power high fidelity multimedia portable, automotive, and consumer products.

The ANAGRAM SoftDAC, a 24bit Audio DAC IP Core, relies on a new discrete time
architecture and the use of digital signal processing (DSP) capabilities implemented
directly in digital CMOS. The utilization of such an architecture is in line with the ongoing
trend toward fully digital CMOS in the portable area, which makes this architecture
attractive in terms of power consumption, cost, and the integration benefits of deep
submicron technology nodes.

The ANAGRAM SoftAMP, a PWM Class D Controller IP Core, is ideal for driving
industry standard switching power stages, integrated power MOSFETs, or headphone
amplifiers capable of directly powering speakers. SoftAMP is designed to deliver an
extremely cost effective fully digital audio amplifier solution while providing superior
audio quality to satisfy next-generation high definition audio device requirements. The
SoftAMP core is fully configurable supporting multiple clock frequencies, switching rates,
and waveform patterns. Advanced AM reduction modes and spread-spectrum
technologies are also available to help reduce integration problems in high RF
environments such as Mobile and Automotive applications. In addition seamless
integration with the ANAGRAM Q5 Asynchronous Sample Rate Converter IP Core
allows support of asynchronous input streams for more advanced audio processor
subsystem architectures, excellent jitter attenuation, and simplified system integration.

Both SoftAMP and SoftDAC IP are unique because they are not reliant on device
matching issues to achieve good linearity and use fully digital CMOS processes.
Traditional analog Class D amplifiers and DACs require the cells to be laid out by hand
because they are sensitive to matching issues requiring the utmost care in layout. Also
analog filters are required after a conventional DAC and can cause digital noise coupling
in the analog path. Supplying analog and digital supply voltages on shrinking silicon
geometries is becoming more and more time consuming.

Describing the benefits of the ANAGRAM Digital PureLogic IP family to SoC
manufacturers, ANAGRAM’s VP of Sales and Marketing, Tim Llewellynn said, “Our
customers can quickly integrate PWM Class D Amplifier and DAC functionalities with
standard place and route methods which means that they can significantly lower the
development cost and quickly bring the product to market.” Referring to the benefits to
startups, Tim added, “One of the biggest problems faced by SoC manufacturers brought
on by increasingly complicated designs is getting the product out the door. Investors are
asking for faster turnarounds to capitalize on their investment. ANAGRAM’s IP helps
them to achieve this goal.”

Availability

ANAGRAM PureLogic IP Cores are available now for licensing in DSP or VHDL code.
To shorten design cycles and accelerate time-to-market, ANAGRAM provides evaluation
and development kits with detailed documentation, test benches, and design-in and
customization support is available on request. For more information please visit:

LAS VEGAS, January 8, 2007 – Today at the 2007 International Consumer Electronics Show, technology partners ANAGRAM Technologies, StreamUnlimited, and Analog Devices, Inc. (ADI) will demonstrate BlueTigerTM - a connected CD and DVD optical drive platform built on ADI’s Blackfin® processor. The new drive platform offers manufacturers a way to differentiate commodity optical drive-based devices via enhanced audio/video processing, simplified connectivity, and the convergence of next-generation premium digital media content. BlueTiger is comprised of a ready-for-manufacturing (RFM) hardware platform, a high quality CD/DVD loader, and a customizable software framework that will enable manufacturers to significantly improve time-to-market when responding to new market opportunities in media convergence.

The first reference design in the BlueTiger family is the CD-100, a connected CD/MP3/WMA/AAC player with lossless audio, digital radio and ATAPI hard disk storage support. The CD-100 combines multiple audio formats, media and connectivity interfaces, and storage options with a dedicated CD servo decoding software solution. This allows manufacturers to adopt a product-line strategy to create innovative product derivatives from a single platform, including premium CD and compressed audio players, integrated CD/DAB receivers with recording and digital audio hub capabilities, and roadmap options that extend to media server connectivity.

To further allow manufacturers to differentiate their products, the CD-100 features StreamUnlimited’s SilverStrikeTM loader - a quality disc loading mechanism specifically designed for high-end audio/video products that demand smooth, quiet operation. Superior mechanical parts, such as steel pins and the patent-pending AntiVibeTM vibration-damping system, lower noise and improve shock absorption and stability of hard-to-play, unbalanced discs. In addition, the JewelFitTM universal mounting system is mechanically and electrically compatible with mainstream loaders, such as the WXD8229 and Philips DVD modules, which allows manufacturers to reuse existing mechanical designs.

To address manufacturers’ concerns about copy-protected disc playability on low-cost optical drive systems, ANAGRAM and StreamUnlimited co-developed the EnduroTM CD Servo Error Recovery System exclusively for the CD-100 design. This dedicated servo decoding algorithm enhances the playback of non-standard audio CDs by providing advanced data concealment and error correction.

System cost savings are delivered to the CD-100 via the platform’s single, low-cost high-performance Blackfin processor. Blackfin processes the audio decoding and enhancement algorithms (Enduro, Q5 Sample Rate Converter and decoders, including MP3, WMA, AAC, and LPCM), and in addition it controls all of the system components, supporting multiple multimedia interfaces, including USB, Digital Radio, and ATAPI- based storage devices. Removing the need for an additional microcontroller reduces the bill of materials and total system cost.

“Blackfin is the ideal choice for highly integrated audio/video applications like BlueTiger – with the option to include streaming media features in the future,” said Mike Haidar, General Manager, Software & Systems Technology (SST) division, Analog Devices. “Our powerful, customizable, low-cost processor will enable the team to deliver a future-proofed optical drive platform at aggressive consumer price points.”

“This new platform is truly a case where the whole is greater than the sum of its parts,” said Frits Wittgrefe, CEO of StreamUnlimited. “By offering a dedicated optical drive platform and turnkey solutions with industry leading partners, we can enable our customers to rapidly add premium sound and video, next-generation multimedia formats, simplified device connectivity, and advanced protocols to new and existing product lines at significantly reduced cost.”

“Given the vast quantity of consumer audio devices on the market today, and high consumer expectations, manufacturers must continually look for ways to achieve product differentiation,” said ¬¬Timothy Llewellynn, Vice President of Sales and Marketing for ANAGRAM Technologies. “Our flagship Q5 Sample Rate Converter allows the platform to act as a digital audio hub, preserving audio quality and unifying the multitude of sources in today’s multimedia systems, not a commonly found feature in this market space.”

Pricing and Availability

The BlueTiger platform is currently being sampled to key OEM partners and will be available for production in the spring of 2007. To shorten design cycles and accelerate time-to-market, ANAGRAM and StreamUnlimited are providing development kits with complete, RFM hardware reference designs, development boards, and a complete suite of software targeting devices with a market price of less than $500. A demonstration of the BlueTiger CD-100 reference design, including loader modules, is available at CES 2007. Please contact our media representative (listed below) to schedule an appointment.

Norwood, MA - Analog Devices, Inc. (NYSE: ADI), a global leader in high-performance semiconductors for signal processing applications, today announced that Cambridge Audio is leveraging ANAGRAM’s proprietary Q5™ Upsampling technology running on the Blackfin to deliver superior, richly detailed sound from ordinary CDs. ANAGRAM selected Blackfin based on the processor’s ability to handle multiple control and audio signal processing tasks on a single chip. The new player from Cambridge Audio, an international hi-fi leader, is geared to the mid- to high-end audio market and provides consumers with superior sound quality with staggeringly low distortion, low noise floor and a superior form of sound reproduction.

The Blackfin processor’s digital signal processing functionality was critical to the project. Its high-performance memory and processing architecture enabled ANAGRAM to optimize the Q5 technology to deliver 384 kHz upsampling with better than 144 THD+N (total harmonic distortion plus noise) for 24-bit, 192 kHz digital audio input streams, a level of distortion unmatched by other audio algorithms. In effect, this allows existing standard CDs to play back with the enhanced audio clarity, richness and dynamic range normally associated with SACD or DVD-A disks.

“Analog Devices has earned its reputation for providing high-quality audio processing and mixed-signal products that deliver exceptional performance and value,” said Thierry Heeb, CEO at ANAGRAM Technologies SA. “The Blackfin processor’s digital signal processing and microcontroller functionality enabled us to deliver an integrated solution with a level of performance at the right cost.”

Q5 Upsampling from ANAGRAM uses the ADSP-BF532 Blackfin processor to interpolate and resynchronize CD data to a level of audio quality that even matches the original master recordings. For the 840C, Cambridge Audio then fed the interpolated data through two AD1955 24-bit digital-to-analog converters (DACs) also from Analog Devices. The DACs, each an integrated, single chip stereo digital audio playback system provide dual-channel, 24-bit, 384 kHz audio, enabling the 840C to play back standard CDs with breakthrough crispness.

The integrated microcontroller functionality of the ADSP-BF532 enabled control of all the audio sub-systems in the 840C, including the digital audio receiver, digital audio transmitter, twin D/A converters and audio mutes – effectively removing the need and cost of including a separate host processor.

“The unique capabilities of Blackfin enable our customers to innovate and deliver differentiated products to the high-fidelity audio market,” said John Croteau, general manager, Convergent Platforms and Services Group, Analog Devices. “Blackfin provides an integrated, flexible, low-cost solution that is ideal for audio applications that require a processor that can handle multiple control and signal processing instruction sets.”

A Convergent Future Demands Blackfin-Class Processing

Analog Devices’ Blackfin embodies a new breed of 16/32-bit embedded processor with the industry’s highest performance and power efficiency for applications where a convergence of capabilities – multi-format audio, video, voice and image processing; multi-mode baseband and packet processing; and real-time security and control processing – are critical. It is this powerful combination of software flexibility and scalability that has gained Blackfin widespread adoption in convergent applications such as digital home entertainment; networked and streaming media; automotive telematics and infotainment; and digital radio and mobile TV.

Préverenges, Switzerland. - Dec 12, 2005 - ANAGRAM Technologies SA, today announced the release of a new line of ultra high-performance digital audio modules targeting high-precision 24-bit D/A audio converter systems.

Four new modules, Q5™, Sonic2™, Sonic4™, and TimeLock™ were announced that incorporate the latest generation of ANAGRAM’s patent-pending Q5™ Upsampling and DSS™ Synchronisation technologies to deliver industry leading digital to audio conversion. Unlike previous generations, the new modules now include the ability to convert DSD to PCM to deliver a fully integrated high quality CD, SACD and DVD-Audio converter solution.

Q5™ is the highest performance asynchronous sample rate converter available on the market, delivering better than 144dB THD+N and with conversion rates up to 384kHz. It is also the only available ASRC capable of upsampling DSD streams from SACD playback devices.

The Sonic2™ and Sonic4™ are pure upsamplers that are intended to drive ultra high precision audio DACs. ANAGRAM has developed a completely new multi-DAC scrambling technology for the two Sonic modules that further expands the performance envelope in multi-DAC audio converter designs. The flagship Sonic4™ is capable of driving 4 DACs per channel independently in L/R± differential mode (a total of 8 DACs) with upsampling to 768kHz.

Thierry Heeb, CEO at ANAGRAM Technologies SA, commented: “At these frequencies we can completely bypass the digital filter used in high-end DACs further improving audio fidelity. In addition, our newly developed Sonic Scrambling™ technology allows multi-DAC designs to address the issue where the last bits in the audio stream are not converted in a linear fashion.”

Finally the TimeLock™ is an ultra-low jitter master clock generator capable of supplying DACs and other critical components with an extremely stable clock.

“We found that off-the-shelf oscillators didn’t match the performance of our modules so we consulted experts in the Swiss watch industry to create our own audio master clock module. We are very pleased with the results, especially the price / performance ratio that we managed to obtain where we can deliver a jitter resolution in the sub pico second range for an extremely competitive price,” Theirry added.

ANAGRAM Technologies will be present during CES 2006 at T.H.E. SHOW, St-Tropez Hotel, Suite 2107 in Las Vegas from the 5th to the 8th of January 2006 to present the new module product line-up. Companies interested in meeting with ANAGRAM Technologies in Las Vegas are advised to contact the company directly.

WOODBURY, NY - Harman Kardon today announced it has received the prestigious EISA Audio Player of the Year 2005-2006 Award from the European Imaging and Sound Association (EISA) for its high-performance CD player with enhanced user convenience and exceptional value.

The HD 970 combines the third generation of Harman Kardon’s Real-time Linear Smoothing technology (RLS-III) with a high performance digital-to-analog converter to deliver spacious, richly detailed sound that multi-purpose machines simply cannot deliver.

Tom McLoughlin, Harman Kardon president, comments: “Receiving an EISA 2005-2006 Award for the Harman Kardon HD 970 truly validates our position as a leader in the design and manufacturing of state-of-the-art stereo components.”

The official EISA report reads: “The HD 970 belongs to that rare class of products which give a taste of high-end audio at a low-end price. Demonstrating the audiophile spirit embodied in even the most affordable Harman Kardon models, the HD 970 employs an ultra-silent power supply, ‘minimalist’ analogue output section, digital circuitry that upsamples to 384kHz at 24 bit resolution, and a fast, accurate transport mechanism. The HD 970’s rich, fluid, transparent sound will allow discerning listeners to rediscover even their most-played recordings. The HD 970 also has full MP3 decoding capability and can be used as a DAC for other digital sources.”

Dramatic progress in digital signal processing has been made since its introduction in 1992, allowing the integration of RLS in a standalone CD player. Using theoretical roots of the original RLS, RLS-III has broken the limitation of the dynamic range and has pushed the limit of the noise level to an absolute non audible frequency range with very high jitter rejection. The result is an astonishing common signal format of 24 bits at a sampling frequency of 384 kHz.

The new RLS-III is using a High Precision Local Clock as reference for all audio processing. The clock ties the Audio DSP and DAC stage into one entity. This sonic refinement, together with a high-end Class-A analog output stage, create a natural and open sound stage that even the most demanding audiophiles dream of.

Another unique feature of the HD 970 is the two digital inputs, which allows “foreign” source players to benefit from the high-grade audiophile processing of the HD 970. When the digital signal of older digital source players is looped through the HD 970 it will benefit from its extensive processing power. Especially source components using older and less powerful converters will benefit from this feature.

Harman Kardon HD 970 is available for sales throughout Europe for a suggested retail price of 499 euro.
