DSF™ SACD Conversion

SACD conveys all the potential of very high definition audio: wide bandwidth, high resolution, and very low distortion. It is a one bit signal sampled at a high 2.8224:MHz: sampling rate which is referred to as DSD. As nice as DSD may appear from the theoretical point of view, it has one fundamental drawback resulting from its intrinsic format: you cannot perform any digital signal operation (except for a pure delay) without breaking the DSD nature of the data stream. Moreover, due to its very high sampling rate and one bit nature, DSD is incompatible with already implemented signal processing functions targeting standard PCM data and not well suited to standard DSP architectures. Classical approaches to convert DSD to PCM require prohibitive processing power and this is why many DACs accept DSD input directly. However ANAGRAM has developed DSF™ Filtering technology that can convert DSD streams to PCM up to 8xFS with superb quality. In addition this technology can run on a standard DSP or MCU with as little as 90 MIPS for a 5.1 channel conversion on a modern DSP.
